Privacy Policies
FreeGeek Columbus takes your privacy very seriously.
Donor Information
FreeGeek Columbus retains records about the donations we have received. We keep track of who has donated what, and when. We may use this information to contact you about upcoming events, or to encourage you to donate to us again. If this bothers you, you may donate to us anonymously. We will never sell, rent, or share your personal information with any other organization or entity.
Donated Equipment
We strongly encourage all donors to remove any data from the equipment they donate to us. We recommend using DBAN to wipe all the data off of computer hard drives before bringing them to FreeGeek Columbus. Regardless of whether you erase the data before donating, the standard procedure at FreeGeek Columbus is to wipe all hard drives using DBAN. FreeGeek Columbus will not boot or access any donated hard drive unless it has been wiped. Hard drives that cannot be wiped due to physical malfunction or system incompatibility will be physically destroyed. Aggregate statistics about donations may be used for marketing and grantwriting purposes.
Volunteer Information
During your first volunteer session with FreeGeek Columbus, you will be asked to read and sign the Volunteer Agreement that outlines what FreeGeek expects of you and what you can expect of FreeGeek in return. This document will be kept on file until it is considered out of date or until you ask us to discard it. Each time you volunteer at FreeGeek, your volunteer hours will be logged so that we will know when you are eligible for your free computer. Aggregate statistics about volunteers may be used for marketing and grantwriting purposes.
